Heat Illness Season
Approximately 175-200 persons die from heat-related disorders during an average year in the United States.
Recognizing the signs and symptoms is important. Very young and elderly patients are at greatest risk for heat illness, or patients with multiple medical problems.
Sudden elevations of temperature and humidity increase the risk for heat related illness. Seek medical attention if you suffer any of the symptoms below.

Heat Cramps Symptoms:

• severe muscle cramps
• faintness, dizziness
• extreme tiredness
• dry cough

Heat Exhaustion:

• heat cramp symptoms
• profuse sweating
• headache
• nausea
• Pale, clammy skin
• dilated pupils
• near syncope
• thirst
• temp between 100 - 106^oF

Heat Stroke:

• symptoms of heat exhaustion and altered mental status
